My wife and kids will tell you how fanatical I am about recycling at home and minimizing our impact on the environment. We compost our kitchen waste, we recycle paper, cardboard, plastic and styrofoam, we buy organically grown local produce as much as possible, we use compact fluorescent bulbs and, generally speaking, attempt to be good citizens of the earth. I ride my bike to work as often as possible and enforce the same recycling and conservation efforts at the office as I do at home. Yet, it’s not enough.

I own a business that uses trees and other natural resources. We drive to appointments, fly to conferences, burn diesel fuel in delivery trucks and sell items that put a strain on the earth and its finite resources. From the wood used to manufacture furniture, to the petrochemicals used to manufacture fabrics, to the volatile organic compounds that are released during the finishing process, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MANUFACTURE FURNITURE WITHOUT IMPACTING THE ENVIRONMENT.
